I have to thank you all for bearing with me :D We’re so close to finishing BlockHopper for iOS, but there are a lot of little things to clear up. We’re super excited to be so damn close! :D
Enjoy Scene 43 – “Perfection”!
Please continue to vote and check out the new Scrufflebeck’s sketch! :D Thank you for voting everyday!
You can follow The Pocalypse on Facebook, Twitter and RSS, too!
I am actually surprised to be the first, here.
Otherwise, I am really wondering what’s going on here…
Did Jessie’s father engineer it all, or tried to build a counter to it? (the resemblance is uncanny)
second! yah good question, maybe berny and jessies father tryed to make the ultimate suite and then he lost control.
OMG sooooo Sam is that brain and is working wiht the machines, that mean he is bad, and he just got in Joe mind to control over him…. and probabbly Jessie Father crate the machins… WOW WOW WOW
Does this mean that Greybane is going to have his brain removed? That’s not cool.
wow that is weird
Great chapter but it was a little hard to read the white text on the white floor, just letting you know mate.
That room stuffed with brains reminded me of some old Fantastic Four-comic.
Anyways, I just want to say I’m loving the comic. I have been following it for a couple of months now and I thought this was just the time to say something ^^
…Is this transformation and willful evolution innately evil? (I think not)
or, is how the subjects are willing, or not, what makes this ‘perfection’ good or evil?
I’m not sure I’ve understood this chapter…
i wonder how doc is gonna screw this up
go back to joe and the gang i want to see if inner joe can get his body back!
I see dead pokéballs.
I thought that Greybane was going to save naive doctor and Scrufflebeck, maybe he will.
NOOOOO don’t take my werewolf! Author Joe I demand you leave Greybane alone this instant!
two things are going play out here:
1. that’s sam, the body Bernard Sr. created, and sam is bad.
2. or…, stay with me here, that’s a whole new creature controlling the machines.
these are the facts to consider: joe claims that he was born not created (no idea where inner joe came from), and sam’s body was killed ages ago, but his brain still works as in someone saved his brain after being stabbed by Dominic and sam’s brain HAS to survive somehow, where, ‘forever’ as he puts it took control of joe’s some time in joe’s life. and a big event led sam into a coma and joe surfaced as seen in scene 1.
I’d like to hear some other theories from other pocalypse fans. Anyways… thumbs up by me!!
P.S. @Author Joe, are you making this up as you go, or do you have a story written out already?
I’m confused on who is talking throughout this whole episode
@Joe there is a little typo in your message you say enjoys scene 43 “the dogs” and scene 42 was also “the dogs” it doesn’t really matter i thought i would just point it out.
Hmm… I can’t help but wonder if Sam IS that brain. After all, he is a living mind, and Bernard Sr., who was the last person chronologically shown with Sam, has an innate talent for machines… Not to mention he was shown just beside Greybane at the end of the last scene with the same style of white text.
@MrHappy – Oops! Fixed it :D Thanks!
Now some old events are starting to make sense… I think Bernie’s dad is working with Sam in the machine cities.
1. Vampires hate machines
2. It was implied by Katherine that Bernie’s dad is a “slayer”, and the vampires wanted Bernie to stop his own dad. Why would Bernie do that, especially if his dad was killing vampires? Because of the machine cities.
Also, I’m disappointed that Sam is running the machines. He seemed like such a nice guy, saving Jess and refusing to kill Joe, even when Joe was trying to kill him.
i have a question.WERE IS ANDRIUS???he was a cool character ,the first hibrid.And i wan to see what is doc and Dominik doing,andwhat was whit the guys ho have those mutans dogs ho bite Scrfflebeck?
Goddammit, not the Daleks.
Joe i have a question when are comin scene’s of jessie and Annika* ,Nathan And rusty
I’m sorry, but the line “Your brain is ours!” set me laughing.
hi, I stumbled upon the site some time ago now, bout 2 months, and I have been fascinated by it. I think the story is great, love the characters and how they are not the usual perfect ones, they are human and have flaws, I just have one thing on my mind, and it is that I think the story has parts that are too deep and part that are too superficial, I mean, it gives a hint of allot of things, ALLOT of things, but it only explains a little of it, I love it but I think it should explain a little more. I mean, I understand that it has its mystery, but come on, I feel lost, on the other hand, I don´t care where Scruffleback comes from, I <3 that little guy, Go Team Scruffleback!!!! (Thus, I hate what doc is doing to him)
Wow I’m finally up to date! Great stuff!
Yeah, everybody likes brains…
This story is starting to feel like one of those classic, mind-bending sci-fi rpg’s.
ALL YOUR BRAIN ARE BELONG TO US
Robo-Graybane! I called it!
Or else we’ll see a Werepyre soon!
Love the way the werewolf just strolls about like a regular person(“just swingin’ my arms a little here”) and waits politely when spoken to.
He should short out their entire city by lifting his leg against the console, then just stroll out through the gates, wagging his tail and nomming on a brain.
This is probably the BEST web comic (if a story told on flash can be called this way) I’ve ever read! I have watched literally all chapters today and I couldn’t see time fly by.
Have to admit that this last chapter was indded really really good and this scene was amazing!
Keep up the good work!
I liked this one as well. After reading the other comments and thinking about them, I realize there ARE some good points made here. At first I couldn’t follow who was saying what in this episode, mainly because there was hardly any indication of who was talking, especially if you didn’t make the connection with the text from Sam in the previous episode or didn’t remember what it looked like. I have one problem other than that, and it’s that the robot (or whatever the black text box was coming from) and Sam seemed to be the same person with the way the speech was written, so it made it difficult to tell if it was just a robot speaking alongside Sam or if it was Sam talking through a robot on occasion sort of like those creatures in movies that change their voice or shape on occasion for no apparent reason. I’m probably getting annoying now, so I’ll post the rest in another comment.
Alright, so here’s the continuation of my post. First off to those who commented, you need to realize that Doc probably isn’t coming here. After all, he WAS on his way to Vampire territory, wasn’t he? If you are talking about Jessie’s boyfriend, you need to say his name, due to already having another character known as Doc.
Secondly, to Norman D. Landings, I like the joke, but I don’t see how pressing his leg against the console would short it out. If you mean BREAK it, then you need to say something other than “lifting his leg against the console”. Plus, I highly doubt that console controls the whole city, as doing something like that would basically make those robots idiots. It’s like having a big self-destruct button on your back with a spike on it. You can press it, but not how you normally would. You press it, it all collapses. Plus, I doubt something like that could control a city anyway. It would probably be much bigger if that were the case.
Thirdly, to Zach, you make some good observations I had forgotten about. All of that makes sense. As for being disappointed, I wasn’t that much, because that would be too confusing to have three minds in one body all fighting for control. Plus, a webcomic with so many unexpected twists that were for once not cliche would have to have something cliche show up EVENTUALLY. What I’m talking about is simple. It’s one of those “Perfect Ally becomes Evil Dangerous Mastermind” things, where a character seems like they’d be a great new good guy, and then it turns out they have alternative motives for doing all those nice things, motives which tend to be rather sinister, cruel, twisted, illogical, or any number of other things. Sam is that character. He probably saved Jess so he could use her later, and refused to kill Joe for that same reason as well as because Joe was an alternate mind in Sam’s body which Sam probably wanted back, he didn’t want to make Jess think he was a villain because that would ruin his plans, and he wanted to try to convince Joe to side with him so they could team up to become an unstoppable force or so he could study Joe and figure out everything about him that Sam is confused or curious about.
Fourth, Locke, your comment made no sense to me. I know it’s a joke, but I doubt anybody understood it, although the word sounds familiar to me, and maybe I’d recognize it if you explained what they were.
I could go on about some other things, but I’ll put it all into a nutshell. Sam and Bernard Sr. have teamed up. My guess is Bernard Sr. is the one who made the robots in the first place. Either that, or he has somehow gained control over them, either by hacking their main network or by proving his superiority and forcing them to follow him or suffer the power of his lasers and EMP weapons which would probably destroy the cities entirely or at least render them powerless, and I mean that both ways (no power in combat or strength, and no power to keep them running because of the EMPs). They are working behind the scenes, Sam to gain ultimate control unbeknownst to Bernard Sr., who is doing all of that to gain the necessary research needed to find the weaknesses and strengths of each creature involved in the war and exploit them both to defeat them and to achieve even bigger technological advances, which would help even more by creating weapons that CAN kill the zombie vampires. Eventually, if Bernard Sr. is still alive (Sam may have killed him, and maybe even put his brain into the computer and gained control over it, not physically of course), he will discover Sam’s true intentions and aid in his defeat, likely dying in the process or going back to the way he was before the death of his wife, which is when he got depressed and started creating such devastating weapons. If his brain processes WERE transferred into the computer, then he will probably somehow regain his senses and break out of Sam’s control and possibly blow up the entire city with some sort of self-destruct thing, killing himself in the process. Basically, if he is the computer, he is probably going to die completely in the end.
Wow that was a long comment. As a gift, I won’t comment on the next comic.
Psst…
Hey, illeatyourself…
The joke is that dogs usually lift their legs to pee.
Oh and Locke’s Dalek joke was a Dr. Who reference. Wonderful example of Timey Whimey stuff, as mspaint adventures is a good example of time shenanigans, or Chrono Trigger being of dreams that transcend time.
(a crossover between the three would implode all of space-time with one toe-creep off the alpha time spiral)
@illeatyourself
Gratz,THAT’S a long comment. T-T I was beaten.
“There is no perfection,there is only evolution”
@illeatyourself
Thanks for the summary. Do post on the next comic. You made me see everything in a new light. No that is not sarcasm.
@Neowarrior
you are not the only one. i already said something about Greybane turning into robot hybrid realy early.
I don’t like it nu-uh,no way,not one bit. it was so predictibal and i really hate it. Can’t a werewolf just be a werewolf? why always with the stupid hybrids like Werepyre and such? Are Werewolf is awesome in itself and doesn’t need any mixing at all.
*sigh* there is just hope that he can be safed by Scruffleback before they turn him into…whatever,but quite frankly i have almost given up hope at that point.
i wouldn’t mind so much if there were more Werewolfs around in the story. but we have only one so far and that one is almost gone.
Oh well…maybe next update will bring me more hope.
@those want don’t want Greybane to hybridize: You’ve given in to despair too soon. One cliche this comic uses well is the edge of your seat cliffhanger. Let Joe’s masterful puppet show play out.
