Thanks to @hushlorentz‘s recommendation, I picked up 2009’s Demon’s Souls for the PS3. It has sucked me in and it is not letting go! Productivity is definitely dropping :D
Though I’ve only played for a few hours, Demon’s Souls is wonderfully challenging and addictive. If you’ve never played it, it’s an action RPG set in a medieval world that has been overrun by demons. Your job is to wipe them all out and take their souls. You use souls for everything: buying spells, upgrading weapons, and increasing your stats. Sounds pretty simple, right? Not really! Never have I died so many times in a game :D When your character dies, he is sent back to the beginning of the level, all the enemies you killed respawn AND you lose all your hard-earned souls!
While this sounds amazingly frustrating, Demon’s Souls keeps you wanting to try harder, again and again. It never feels like a grind, like other modern action RPGs, such as Fallout, Mass Effect, and, to the most extreme degree, WoW. While your equipment and stats are important, they are just supplements to your skill and patience. Timing your hits and parries is key and many enemies will make you wish you could pause to stop and think over your strategy. When you die, instead of thinking “I should go level up some more.” or “I need to find a better weapon.” you feel fired up and ready to run back and face the demon that killed you, with new knowledge and strategy.
There’s also a lot of variety in the enemies and settings, so you never feel bored. Every area is unique and even creepier than the last. One of the levels is inside the “Prison of Hope”, an insane asylum for rotting demons, which contains every bloody and rusting torture device from your nightmares. Even the difficulty of the game adds to the ambiance. You know that behind every dark corner there’s some axe-wielding maniac that wants to take your souls, so you’re always at the edge of your seat :D
I highly recommend it, if you’re a fan of action RPGs and you don’t mind a good challenge :D
Enjoy Scene 22 – “Disconnected”!

By the sounds of it Joe… I may have to go out and buy that game when I find time haha.
Great scene :D
@joe i ohave a copy of the game and have beaten it oh if you have not heard when you beat the game you get to do new game + its harder but you get more souls from the demons
sry for posting again but what system are you playing on
sry for posting again but i missed what you said about what you are playng on so ignore the coment above
Two things that hinder my ability to buy that:
1. Its for the PS3, I have an xbox 360
2. I’m not into RPGs that much.
WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DESTROY IT?!!
I surely hope Mr. M. wasn´t destroyed… he seemed like a nice enough fellow… Maybe Bernie could install him inside a robot or something to establish partial association with the machines?
Girls always mess up everything in survival webcomics :P ( Rosa freed IJ,Jess made Harry destroy the device, etc. )
@Happy Vampire: Considering her brother and two of her friends were put in a forced coma by an unknown dangerous machine and she had no idea what was happening in their brains… I’d say Jess made a pretty rational and good decision for her part.
A warning for all who wish to play dark souls: your screwed =). In all reality you aren’t, however if you get angry easily, you should get a mentor of a therapist. This game is Amazingly fun, But you had better find the best weapons you can, watch corners, and above all, be prepared to die and when you do, die hard.I love the game!
I think the computer negotiator is likable only because he – that is, it, is a program, and programs think with only logic and no emotion. If it does not see a reason in annihilating a colony, at the cost of resources and population, it will try to avoid such a situation.
And so, we have a contrast with Inner Joe…sorta.
@yinello Details,details.
I can’t believe that each episode gets better and better. You’re doing a really good job.
Funny thing about giving Joe up to the machines is that I don’t really feel all that bad about it. Inner Joe is an obvious bastard, but it’s not like OJ is really any better. He doesn’t give two shits about anyone but himself for the most part.
Seriously though, where the hell did that Machine box come from?
Don’t have a PS3 so I’ve only played Dark Souls. Awesome awesome game. You feel like you actually accomplished something just taking out a regular enemy, and when you start getting good, you can really be a terror.
I’m back,NAO NEW SCENE=WHERE
Joe, you may find Demon’s Souls difficult but you should give Dark Souls a try. It is the ‘spiritual successor’ to Demon Souls and is an amazing game (albeit even harder and more raging). You should give it a try.
@Raziel Star: The machine box was that thing that Greybane gave to Nick before he left, remember?
