Getting a License in Japan: Be Patient | October 19, 2010

by Joe

It’s been a busy few days! I got my Japanese driver’s license, which I’ll need to rent and drive a car in the next few days. I had to “switch” my Canadian license for a Japanese one (though I still get to keep my Canadian license). It only took one day, but what a long day it was. All I can say is be prepared to wait and wait… and wait. You need one form to get another form and that form to get another form. Japan sure is thorough :) But, then again, when has anyone ever had a pleasant experience at a licensing bureau in any country?

I was glad and kind of surprised that the office staff was very friendly and helpful, despite my non-existent Japanese-speaking skills. One guy even led me past all the lines to get a few forms! Friend, if you’re reading this, thank you so much! You’re never too far from a person who is willing to help a clueless foreigner in Japan :)

I want to continue to thank everyone who is following The Pocalypse! Keep telling everyone you know about it :D There’s a lot of activity in the Forums, so excuse me as I go give it some more attention!

Enjoy Scene 6 – “Goodbye, Joe”!

Oh sorry for double-commenting, but I was meaning to ask: how do you get such smooth anti-aliased fonts in a website?

See my automatic concern while watching that was who or what was in the third cell?
I liked the part about being “Mildly unplesent” at least he’s honest with himself

He’ll come back, in one way or another. Be it either zombie or superman-like.
I’m 100% sure that he isn’t gone from the story. :P

This is a fantastic way of storytelling. As a constructive comment, the sprites are very well done, you have great attention to detail and I really mean that. This.. erm.. page, i suppose, is fantastic. (although gawd, those zombie heads. they’re HUGE, compared to the human heads and they can be a little big) But the drawn characters can be done a little better. They’re very crisp and clean though, using vectors is interesting as it sets them apart from the sprites in the background.

Keep doing it though, you have a great talent and now, another reader. Another thing I suggest, if you can, is to have a schedule so we know what days to come back. Keep on rocking.

Your strip is wonderful. Finally, after weaning myself off A Modest Destiny, I can relish pixel comics once again?

Any chance of you adding a way to add your site via RSS to igoogle?

Cannot wait to read/watch the next chapter.

Hey there; I saw your banner ad on MSPA and found my way here. I finished watching all the ep.s just now and am liking them so far. It is a neat concept and it really looks quite slick. Thoughts: draw up a couple more expressions for the waist up shots that we see in the forefront. The accompanying picture lends an extra dimension to the text. For suggestions I recommend doing an image search for the ’25 expressions meme’. I don’t think you will need every expression but it is a good place to start. The characters: I like Bernie best so far. His dialog is snappy. Joe reminds me of Bender from Futurama, but I don’t think I’ve warmed up to him just yet. Physical punishment is a good start though! Jess is coming across as a humorless bitch, but maybe that only bothers me because she looks just like me, and it seems to early to get a bead on her anyway. I look forward to future update.

Hey, really liking the comic so far! This is the first time I’ve caught a comic this early in development, and so far it’s absolutely great. The fact that every update is animated is something I can admire. I imagine making this is pretty difficult to keep up with. Anyway, keep up the awesome work, Joe!

This is another great comic I hope to be frequently viewing; it’s style is very unique and the dialouge is great, and after looking back at all the enviorments it makes me wonder what’s inside each door.

This is the defintion of awesome. So great to see something fresh and cool!

Of course Joe isn’t dead, duh. The zombie bite didn’t hurt him, he’s exploding heads with punches… clearly, he’s got super strength and nigh invulnerability. Joe is the sarcastic, warped Pocalypse Superman.

Maaaan, I’m hooked up on this comic XD Please, please, please, I need more ASAP XD

As a side note, it would be nice if you added Back and Forward buttons to the flash proper in the beginning- & end-of-scene screens.

Hey, I can’t view your site properly within Opera, I actually hope you look into fixing this.
