Season 8 | November 4, 2017

by Joe

I stopped watching The Walking Dead halfway through Season 7 just because I lost interest and other shows came in to fill the TV show void (Stranger Things comes to mind). But after Season 7 showed up on Netflix, I decided to binge-watch and got through it. Naturally, I got hooked again and am now waiting every week for the next episode of Season 8. The Walking Dead holds a special place in my heart since it started pretty much the same time as The Pocalypse – October 31, 2010 and October 10, 2010, respectively. I had never read the comics (I don’t even think I had heard of it at the time) so, to me, it felt like the two stories were happening and unfolding at the same time.

I got a lot of inspiration from the show. I created Rusty after watching Daryl and Merle. I learned that killing characters, even beloved ones, is not a bad thing if done right. The Pocalypse would not be the same story without The Walking Dead show to inspire parts of it.

Now, TWD and The Pocalypse have branched apart pretty far (unless TWD introduces some psychics :D) but I still find inspiration from it. I’ll continue to watch it to the end, like I did with Lost. No matter how the story goes, for better or worse, I’ve invested too much time to stop.

What do you think of the show these days? Do you still wait for every Sunday to watch a new episode?

Enjoy Scene 70 – “Bring ‘Em On”!

I love how Bernie doesn’t give a fuck about being alive anymore. I only hope they find a way to get his body back :(

As for TWD, I quitted watching it because the story is looping around since Beth’s death. Nothing new ever happens! Someone dies, they look for some other place to stay, walkers/other people try to break in and kill a bunch of people and it goes on and on in this same sequence. If only there was some kind of plot twist (like a clue to a possible cure) I think it’d be more interesting.

I read the comics. nasty stuff. They did the dumpster hiding to tease out the comic readers. though as I hear negan still turned him into mashed potatoes.

negan’s a piece of shit if there’s ever been one, and the worst part is he’s still alive in the current part and somehow a contribution to the standard crew.

though…….. we lost a good few people that were very interesting.

I’m impressed at how strong you can make a few minutes of plot progress show. Some triple A stories of other mediums never got me so pumped so thorougly. Kuddos. Thought this was gonna drag on and go elsewhere too! Nice subversion of expectations there, you ended it clean and thorough. Lets see whats next :3

“I’ve invested too much time to stop.” – And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is a prime example of the “Sunk cost fallacy” :D
But yeah, I watched TWD. Loved season 1; Season 2 – when most shows pick up – was just meh; Season 3 had it’s moments and really stupid ones (She died Coral!) ; I dropped it halfway through Season 4 when the flu broke out and haven’t touched it since.
Also I always knew Rusty was an inspiration from the show, and I’ll be honest here, it’s one of the main reasons I don’t like his character. He is just too much Darly&Merle without too much unique features, even down to his preferred weapon of choice.
BUT other than him, I still love the rest.

Just promise me you won’t fall into the “LFG comic” trap of generating constant conflicts without end. I mean that comic was always bad, but after they undramatically killed the main puppetmaster to do a soft-reboot and keep the artificial conflicts ongoing, it basically jumped the (dead) shark for good and reduced that thing into an unfunny newspaper comic (with too high production cost).
So yeah, don’t go there. Have a proper ending planned. Be more like “Order of the Stick”.

I didn’t mean it SUPER sarcastically. I was really wondering at the end if I should just stay up until its released.
