Gary Oldman Now Haunts My Dreams | November 16, 2010

by Joe

I was watching Angry Video Game Nerd the other day. It was one of his Halloween specials and he was reviewing game adaptations for 1992’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula. If you know of AVGN, then you know that the games were obviously not well-received, but he got me thinking of the movie. So, I watched it.

The very first thing that caught my attention was Keanu Reeves and his exceptionally brilliant, not funny at all, British accent (yes, being sarcastic ;) ). All I could see was Ted from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure with a touch of Neo from Matrix. Why they chose Keanu, I have no idea. At least one of my favourite actors, Anthony Hopkins, did a good job as Dr. Van Helsing (way better than Mr. Jackman, for sure).

The character of Dracula is the kind of classical, twisted, evil, dark vampire that I love to see in vampire lore. If I watched this movie as a child (and I was a child when it came out), I would’ve been forever scarred by the character of Dracula and Gary Oldman would be haunting my dreams to this day. If The Pocalypse ever gets adapted into a movie, I’m going to make sure that Gary Oldman gets the first call :D Anthony Hopkins gets the second call.

I’m going to have to read Bram Stoker’s book because I know that while a picture (or a movie, in this case) is worth a thousand words, a well-written thousand words can be worth countless images :)

In other news, I regret to inform you that the IRC Chat link has been taken down :( I felt bad that I wasn’t logging in and not participating in my own chat. Perhaps when the community grows larger and the demand for a chat rises, I will bring it back :D

In the meantime, please continue to comment and I highly, highly encourage you to join us in the Forums! Activity has been dropping a bit recently, so we need fresh blood! I always read any suggestions and recommendations that are posted in there (I read every comment, too!) :) See you there!

Also, to my fellow webcomic-ers, I just learned of the 2010 Webcomic List Awards. Apparently, only other webcomic authors can nominate other webcomics, so if you think The Pocalypse deserves it, please nominate!

It would be FREAKIN’ awesome if The Pocalypse won something! :D

Please keep voting! I really appreciate all the votes, everyone :D

Enjoy Scene 17 – “Training Joe – Day Three”!

Ahhhhh CQB training where every hero gets the crap beat out of them until they get it right. With the skills they all possess they have a really good chance of making it through the zombies.

You commented from previous days about depictions of various grades of zombie intelligence. Have you run across The Other Gray Meat (http://togm.webcomic.ws/)?
