“Get Out” made me an instant fan of Jordan Peele so when I heard about “Us”, I knew I had to see it. Caught it this weekend and it definitely lived up to my expectations!
Jordan Peele is great at making horror films – they do have your typical jumpscares, tropes, and cliches but it seems like he knows that, embraces them, and throws in well-timed comedy. The social message is lot more subtle and much more open to interpretation then “Get Out”‘s message and it really breeds good ol’ post-movie, still-in-your-theater-seat discussion. My wife and I were the last people in the theater, comparing mental notes :D
I really recommend “Us” and I’ll probably watch it again to pick up all the little Jordan Peele tidbits and easter eggs I missed!
