Subnautica: Below Zero is now in Early Access and while I usually never do Early Access (except for Minecraft, Oxygen Not Included… Rimworld… hmm, maybe I do), the original Subnautica was so enjoyable that I had to take the plunge (:D). So far, so good! Not many differences from the original yet but why fix what’s not broken? I do like the little but noticeable differences such as a more interesting protagonist and story surrounding her and a few new oxygen-replenishing plants and animals in the depths. Really looking forward to seeing the game grow and hopefully turn into its own great, unique experience instead of just a stand-alone that should’ve been an expansion :D At this rate though, judging from all the new landscapes and animals, it’s definitely looking like the former!

The new subnautica do seems like a good time indeed! I’m not a man of doing early accesses too (for real, though haha), but I’m almost making an exception. Still gonna wait for another good review to be sure, but I’m almost sold right here lol.
btw, glad to see Joe becoming the hero he’s always wanted to be. definitely don’t think he’s that clueless about what to do, I’m sure he will make things work out soon.
I have hope that the machines will lose the war
I wonder if the former citizens of New Hammerston might move to this newly liberated colony, or would it be too dangerous to put all of humanities’ eggs in one basket?
@ShiftyOne
I guess it wouldn’t actually be that bad of an idea. Think about it: New Hammerston is just an area with walls (with one of them heavily damaged) – its resources are bound to run out sooner or later; if there’s no army, no Doc and no Bernie, it becomes just another location on the map.
I have done many early access games, but mostly roguelikes. I’m afraid Subnautica doesn’t really have enough replay value to play several increasingly finished builds.
As it is, humans still rely on the occasional hero to protect them. While having large colonies will strain resources and /or encourage aggressive fascist leaderships, it consolidates the key areas which powerhouses need to protect.
Scene will be up later today!
I’m trying to be thorough here: in the scene where Samuel leaves, he says “The others are coming, Victor”, and Joe responds. I think that’s a typo
Ooh, i misread it. my bad, no typo
