I’ve been watching a new BBC show called “Inside the Human Body” and I haven’t learned so much from a TV show since “The Magic School Bus” cartoon. I’m loving the way the program showcases the inner workings and intricacies of the human body through scientific and emotional means. One episode, for example, features an elderly man who is ready to pass away. The narrator (who is great, by the way) finds a way to tug at your heartstrings while explaining the science behind a failing and aging human system. SPOILER AHEAD! —> When the old man died, I’d never felt so sad and educated at the same time.
I need to watch more of these captivating biology shows. The Pocalypse has some biology aspects to it, what with the viruses and mutations and such, so I want to know as much as I can, without going to med school or reading any million-page med books. Of course, I’m going to stretch the truth with the comic, but I don’t want to sound blatantly ignorant :D
A commenter mentioned a Japanese biology show after seeing the Doc’s little presentation, last update. Thanks for that, inkblotch! Does anyone else have any suggestions for entertaining and educational biology shows, preferably with a great narration and super-cool CG awesome-ness? :D
Enjoy Chapter 3’s summary, “Joe Couldn’t Make It”! Yes, I’m going backwards with this one. Chapter 4 continues next update :D
Please continue to vote! :D Bug’s sketch is still the incentive! Thank you for voting everyday!
You can follow The Pocalypse on Facebook (check out our paper doll pictures! Send me your own pics, too!), Twitter and RSS, too!
Why do I think that by getting some blood from the mighty super-powered dynamo that is Joe, Rosa has some sort of resistance to the hunger or something? Y’know, something making her more in control of herself, or…
Y’see where I’m goin’ with this, right?
Thank GOD that The Raptors didn’t happen. I couldn’t imagine a fate worse than being judged alive by The Raptors. Good thing Harold Camptosaurus was incorrect about his National Geographic readings that The Raptors would happen on May 21 and all the believers in fossil evidence would be brought to the K-T Boundary to flourish with Raptor Jesus and all the non-believers would be remain to be judged upon and witness The Great Mass Extinction Event.
I think Rosa should be able to handle herself with Joe’s blood, which is “amazing.” Considering it’s no petty human blood, it should sustain her longer. Even Andy prefers vampire blood over human blood. And Joe is far from both vampire and human.
very far
What is greybane? it said in an earlier episode “subject 2’s muscle mass increasing.”
What is he, the incredible Hulk?
or is he another version of Joe with different powers? I am honestly lost.
on the wiki it said that he may be a warewolf, but i highly doubt it.
magic school bus goood times man good times
@Leinahtan
Really? Because the story is practically screaming that Greybane is a werewolf.
1. GREYBANE. Seriously. The only more obvious name for a werewolf would be Fenris.
2. Joe is allergic to wolves if I recall. And he sneezes around Greybane. See where this is going?
3. He has claws, as seen from his massacre of the zombies threatening the survivors, and his inconclusive battle with Bug.
There’s probably even more that I missed, but it’s pretty obvious that GB is a werewolf, or Joe is going way out of his way to screw with us.
Bonjour M. Joe…….i think I remember the show you speak of, it was on one of our local television stations in St Barts when I was a teenager, very informative if I remember correctly……….
I love the chapter summarys :) once again excellent work Joe
Hey, I’ve been on the site for a few days (I came in on Joe’s better half) and found the link from The Pocalypse defense. I love the comic and wish I found it earlier. I’ve always loved basically anything to do with zombies, and the like. I just wanted to say that I there was a little less cussing and maybe some more of the plants. I want to see Joe rip off the gun of a plant monster! Anyway, it’s a great idea I wish I had enough money to donate.
@Aethrys
Joe is allergic to dogs.But if your allergic to dogs,your also allergic to wolves.Just saying.
Good god i think ive watched that same video
oh I was goin to draw a hacker character that could mess the machines but the host just turned me down… I hate you host!!
Ive seen a surprisingly small amount of zombie slaughtering in this. What I need is some Joe-killing-dozens-of-zombies action here!
So, in this alternate timeline, Will Ferrell never shaved Conan’s beard? :O
I think it’s a noble pursuit to try to stay in the realm of possibilities, I wouldn’t take to much stock in it limits the creative possibilities, great filler plan on checking out this new show always awesome when you have a new comic, thanks a bunch Joe
@AwesomeSauce
Alright, my mistake. But yeah, as you point out, they’re so closely related that it’s a moot point.
I think I’ve figured it out: Greybane isn’t a werewolf. Just because Joe wants to mess with us, Greybane is going to be a WereDog. Exactly the same as a werewolf in every way, but still a human/dog hybrid rather than human/wolf.
@Aethrys
That would acctually be awesome :-D.
But a turn-off to all the werewolf fans out there…
Where’s Bernie?
@Bonzai – Haha! Don’t let him stop you! :D
@mjukis – That’s right! In this timeline, Will Ferrell died in a pudding-eating accident :D
@Belexar – In this scene, he’s right next to Annika! :D
I was completely expecting Rusty to not remotely understand what the talk-show episodes were about and flip out ‘Where are we? What’s going on!? What is with the f***ing laughter!?!?’ and end up shooting the host.
I think he was pretty well behaved, considering!
And speaking of awesome sciencey shows, it’s not biology, but it does have awesome narration and amazing CGI business… “Brian Cox’s Wonders of the Universe”
I LOVE THIS COMIC!
I think greybane is a werewolf because it looks like he attacks with claws,but he dosent transform to attack with them so he looks like he has human skin but he has wolf abilities.
Wereanimals don’t need to shift into their relative forms to use most of their abilities, though shifting does make them noticeably faster, more agile, and stronger.
i love it ! thank u for making such a webcomic ^_^ is nathan named after your kid ?!! :) and my favorite line is .. JOE: yo yo yo my name is joe … and so forth.. :)) haha
JOE=powerfist. JESS= sentinel , BERNIE = (i forgot :P) . TERRY= terry berry THEIR MY FAVORITES!! oh and also ANNIKA= annika ?! haha
Two very informative biology shows that I remember watching were Anatomy for Beginners and Autopsy: Life and Death. They really didn’t need special CGI because they used real humans as well as dissections on real human cadavers. The man hosting it was Gunther Von Hagen I think, they were really interesting if a little too graphic for some (sparked a hell of a lot of controversy in the UK)
