I really enjoyed the two original big screen Cloverfield movies – Cloverfield was one of the first shaky-cam movies I saw and it was pretty fresh at the time, even if it was a little silly. 10 Cloverfield Lane is the crown jewel of the franchise – definitely the best of the bunch and a great movie on its own, with or without the Cloverfield title. Can’t say the same about the Netflix Original, The Cloverfield Paradox. I was super excited about it when I saw the trailer and realized that it released the same day. I thought it was going to tie the previous two movies together, bringing some kind of continuity to the overall story.

… It did not. I now realize that the Cloverfield stories have nothing to with each other. Sure, there are some references and easter eggs but the stories seem to be standalone. I was a bit disappointed because I was curious to see how the Cloverfield monster was related to the 10 Cloverfield Lane aliens. The Cloverfield Paradox also wasn’t that great – acting was so-so, story was alright – though I wonder if I would’ve liked it more if it didn’t hold the Cloverfield title and the expectations that come with it.
Here’s hoping the next big screen Cloverfield installment brings the franchise back to positive reviews :D

OHHHHH NOOO! WE JUST GOT RID OF THAT FUCK
It’s Victor trying to take control of a new body because he’s an undying piece of shit like that isn’t it?
GOOOOOOD DAMMIT VICTOR! You’re like Baby on Dragonball GT!
That’s offensive. I’M fighting schizophrenia.
OH. GOD. NO.
Although in hindsight, what the hell did we expect? Good one, Joe.
Please… don’t tell me that’s Victor…
