Subnautica in a Forest | November 3, 2018

Picked up The Forest on Steam the other day after sitting on my wishlist for months :D I’m a sucker for survival sandbox games and the fear and tension from The Forest’s atmosphere and enemies really take the game over the top for me. I get similar vibes as Subnautica, one of my favourite games of the genre. The fast-moving, flanking mutants of The Forest bring about the same levels of anxiety as the enormous underwater beasts in Subnautica. And, even though The Forest is limited to the ground versus the open sea, it still feels as expansive to explore and building structures is just as fun.

The Forest also has the option to kill enemies with battle-specific weapons and traps. This is something I was kinda missing in Subnautica. Yes, you could take out whale-sized dragons but only with a few huge stun blasts and… a knife. I understand that Subnautica’s focus is not on killing the hostile animals of the planet but some sort of end-game plasma rifle or something would’ve been cool :D

Chopping wood is also really satisfying in The Forest! VR mode must be awesome!

Enjoy Scene 42 – “Mercy”! Sorry it’s so short – had some technical difficulties but at least I’ve successfully updated from Animate CC 2017 to 2019!

I sure hope that the Percursor Rifle, the yellow gun in the huge AA gun place, would be an end-game weapon. Plus there’s mods out there that’ll actually give it to you (and it works!)

“Kid… You fucked up.”

In all seriousness, could Samuel have anticipated the possibity of Esper(?) opponents and applied some sort of shielding to the scouts?

Machines can now resist telekinetic powers? Perhaps he was trying to damage a moving part or detonate the explosives, and the machines have changed their components/removed moving parts.

And the part of the bible where only 1 male and 1 female survives devastation in the Ark is giving me a bad feeling about what Noah is doing…

@ShiftyOne yeah that sounds more plausible
