Argh! I don’t know how I did 3 scenes a week back in the day! :D Sorry for missing the goal again! I guess I’m not Germany in the BRA vs. GER game (sorry for the late and awful World Cup joke).
Got a lot of big freelance projects ongoing and I’m pleasantly surprised how in-demand pixel art is. I’m also trying to find time to update The Monolith! But, it’s great to be busy and I’m glad I can keep The Pocalypse going with the goal of once-a-week updates still in sight.
Enjoy Scene 25 – “It’s Up to Joe”!
You can follow The Pocalypse on Facebook, Twitter for updates!
Still the cliffhanger master I see.
great, but so damn short…*sniff* and i´m REALLY looking forward to updates for the monolith, i swear i know it inside out by now!
True Joe is much more… interesting than I thought, certainly as powerful as I’d expected though. Nice one, let’s see what’s gonna happen next :)
I cheated slightly with Monolith… I programmed a rapid-clicker thing while in college. All I’ve got to do is hold my Ctrl key and it will click anything up to 300-odd times in 10 seconds.
I have to say though, sure this is on everyone’s mind, where is our friendly neighborhood Scrufflebeck?
See, that’s why I allways carry a can opener with me.
Jake’s facial expressions are always weird to me. In the scenes where he is not visibly frowning he looks like he is smiling which makes it a bit weird. It’s something with his mouth when he talks, but Bernie has the same mouth and it doesn’t look like he is smiling when he is not supposed to. I really can’t tell why is that. Does anyone else know/see what I mean?
love it. this is why i open this site everyday just in hope to see something like this.
keep up the good work.
Yea!!! This must have been posted just hours after my last comment. (Now I feel silly) Thanks!!!!
Kinda pernament fuck off. Glad you found some time for us.
Smyth is likely to get himself shot getting through that armor, since he has to pop his own helm to feed. Either that, or all the night stalkers there die first.
I knew joe was powerful, I didn’t expect him to incinerate the zombies with a whim. Expected a little more head explosion, a little less proper cleanup
Glad to see you back. I really missed the updates. Amazing work as always.
Noooooooooooooo! Darn, those cliffhangers, I never see them coming! Keep up the good work we’ll always be here for you! Lots of love from us, stay safe bro!
Yay another one ;D
……………………………Fuck off! lol loved that bit, reminded me of the star wars family guy scene where han gets frozen in carbonite and louis says “i love you!” peter replies “fuck off….”
You know, I could have sworn Bernie made the Arbiter only function for him, so I am curious of how Terry got it to operate for him so easily.
@ Derek
Well, the author had mentioned this almost a year ago (or more?). Considering how slow he updates, it’s natural he’ll forget things o3o
Well, I’m gonna go to sleep. Wake me up in a year, when two-three new updates have been made! :D
^ Derek… hmmmm that does sound very familiar. couldnt find the scene that was in tho. shld be somewhere ard chap 2-3, ard the time arbiter came into the show. i think?
Joe your losing it again, they are becoming slower and slower, you’ve lost most of your fans (as you see with only 17 comments)and you don’t want to lose more. The fans that are here are some of your most loyal fans that saw a comeback and realized that it was just going to get worse again. Many people have quit reading your webcomic because of this major slowdown. Don’t let this comeback become a lie!!!!!!!!!!
Omg that is fun
Also I am going to have a baby sister!!!! August 24th is when she comes. Being a big brother is something that I have wanted to be all my life!!!
(12 years is a long wait)
@ Niko – Shush now child quiet time, don’t speak for everybody when you don’t know the facts thank you!
So much for week updates. No where near the weekly even. “Weekly” mension was…. about two months ago? We’ve got two updates since then, one was a quickly put together, the second this. Much weekly. amaze.
Not to mention that game everybody donated for and saw nothing of.
I’m not talking for everybody, many fans have left, I’m pretty sure Joe doesn’t like losing fans, people have admitted leaving for the major slow down, the slowdown had a comeback and is slowing back down again, and we have been proven loyal by staying. I do know the facts, and I am not talking for everybody.
Oh I forget, don’t even “speak” when you don’t know the facts :) thank you.
But you don’t know the facts, you are just guessing and taking a few accounts and making it into an assumption, for all you know people might just not be arsed to comment anymore but still love reading the comic. So unless you have a chart with all the numbers and views and what not then your still just using guess work.
Fine, I don’t know exactly but I don’t need a chart with numbers of views to know people have stopped coming, and I am taking more than just a few accounts. To prove you wrong lets say that some random forest has 100 deer, the deer have a nice amount of food and water and you can see them a lot from the town next to it. One day a drought comes and the people of the town don’t see as much of the deer, they wouldn’t have charts that
they are dead or gone, they can only see that the deer have disappeared, well they only see a few deer that are living there, and those few deer that they see are about about 8 deer. On the towns on each side they don’t see as much deer either, or even the man who has a cabin in the forest, they don’t have proof that the deer are gone but it is pretty obvious that they have left, considering they don’t see them anymore, just like most of Joes fans. I guess it is a type of “guess work” you don’t understand.
@Niko
if you are a “deer” then why haven’t you left yet?
you clearly don’t understand human nature, or, more importantly The Internet, the only thing that has changed for most people is how often they come to the site, which kinda fits your analogy,.. if you consider that where there were 100 “deer” there now may be about 50, and of the other “deer”, 45 of them will return, so MAYBE 5% of the previous fanbase is gone and no longer cares about The Pocalypse. but new “deer” will soon replace them.
I only continued your analogy because… well that part I guess was just to mock you.
+1 @ Niko.
But, aren’t people checking the website more often while waiting for an update, generating cash per the adverts viewed? I personally realised I’m checking the site 2-3 times a day alone. Some people may just’ve stopped caring of the chat box, and just run on to quickly check if this comic is still alive / being updated.
If anything, Joe may be making more pay per view money by not being on date, than being on date. People would just check the site, but not refresh the page every 5-6 hours for update.
Niko, your point? Joe also has a wife, a kid and freelance projects taking up a considerable part of his time everyday, do you expect him to drop everything and focus entirely on The Pocalypse? Just be glad he’s still making new scenes: he’s doing this for free and only because he still likes to do it and to make his readers happy, but noisy complaints like yours will never make things better. On the contrary, you might just end up convincing him that this isn’t worth his little spare time anymore and he’d leave his series unfinished. Now tell me, would you prefer to have slow updates or no updates at all? If your answer is the latter, then you are here to cause trouble and can join the others who left, because The Pocalypse doesn’t need this kind of followers :) Oh and by the way, the one who writes this comment is someone who has read The Pocalypse for two years and started posting only in the last few months, and I’m sure as heck there are more like me who enjoy reading this webcomic without feeling the urge to post in the comments section. Moreover, you are basing the lack of comments by the comparison with older scenes, but those only had over 50/100 comments because a good couple months passed between each of them, whereas now it’s only been two weeks since this one was released. Makes sense?
I hope you will take your time to read this and think about it Niko, especially since I had read your long post about deer :P Either way congratulations for becoming a big brother soon :)
Niko, I read your last post, the deer analogy, I did not read any other comment other than the last two and I don’t know/don’t really care what’s going on anymore than I am concerned about something You are not understanding. Your analogy, pretty as it is and possible as it is, is what we in the theories of Communication (That we learn as engineers in the university sort of to compensate with the last few years of engineers who lack a good management of their communication skills), call a fallacy. This is a failure in logic to provide a conclusive argument without proper logical thought, but instead with a usually attractive pseudological (falsely logical) argument. You basically said that you can say that something happened to the deer, just because in a closed environment, you don’t see the deer. The falacy resides in the fact that you are in a closed environment, you don’t and cannot see the whole, and your approximations thus are as good as any other aproximation, in particular a crazy one for instance, your argument is as good as saying an alien killed all the deer, or a tornado blew them off into the distance. You fail to prove conclusively that the only possibility is that the deer died because of the drought, that’s why charts and cuantitative analisys and polls exist, to actually be able to prove to conclusion. Your so called “guess work” in this case turns into a fallacy. I would only guess that what you meant was that you are making an educated guess, which isn’t the case either.
Ok I see my last post was Misunderstood, I was talking to WM28UK when I explained all that. I was not complaining to Joe, I was explaining to WM28UK what I meant.
You say that, but with comments like “Joe your[sic] losing it again, they are becoming slower and slower, you’ve lost most of your fans (as you see with only 17 comments)” you’re not exactly helping either.
A bunch of us, such as myself, don’t really post all that much. I still come here and check several times a week though for updates. I’ll probably keep doing that for awhile, perhaps even if he decides to shut down The Pocalypse (in part because I can’t really see Joe shutting down the Pocalypse for good quite yet, I think he enjoys it a bit too much to stop forever). So while comments are a good way to show that we’re an active community, it’s hardly proof that we don’t drop by, or even that he’s lost fans. I know a few people that hardly do check, if ever, but when I see that there’s an update I tell them and they tend to race over to read it.
So, to you, Niko, I say that if you’re concerned about a lack of comments and lost fans then keep posting and post encouraging things. Say you liked the scene, put out ideas for what you think will happen next, get into a conversation with other posters about something other than the dreary topic we are talking about.
To Joe, although I’m sure you are aware of this, while we probably have lost some people, many of us are still here and still patiently waiting. Niko is right about one thing; you do have a very loyal group of fans, and we’ll keep being that loyal group of fans for awhile yet. We know you’re busy but we love this comic so much that we’re willing to sit it out and wait!
P.S. Niko, congratulations on your forthcoming baby sister. Take good care of her!
@ See what i mean Niko? Do you get it now? It may look like all the deer have gone but when you try to build on their plot of land they will come out of hiding and defend that territory. Never judge a book by its cover and never assume anything without facts. Thanks to those that helped me explain my issue with Niko a little better than i could :)
It’s like in those movies, when it seems tides are finally turning against the protagonist. And then, all of a sudden, somebody stands up and says something to show his support. Like “Then I am guilty too!”, “Yes, I am gay.”, “Captain, my captain.” or whatever.
Well my fellow Pocalypse fans, I too have been around here for quite a long time. I love the comics, I even read the comments, but so far I never wrote a comment myself.
Until today.
Until now.
As I take pride in saying:
I am a deer.
I for one have only ever commented once before now.
You guys are too awesome :*D I’m always amazed at the support you all give me. I often feel I don’t deserve it as I wish I could do more for you. The worst part is that I know how little time a scene takes me to make but other projects that pay the bills always step up and I simply can’t ignore them – taking me away from The Pocalypse :(
I am happy that I get to do what I love to do as an artist every day but I always have you all and The Pocalypse on my mind. I always think, “Just gotta finish this, then I can work on the scene. Just gotta finish this… Just gotta finish this…”. Then, boom, another project pops up. I know that one day I’ll make enough from The Pocalypse to start rejecting other projects and I won’t stop working towards that goal and goals beyond :D
Of course, I’m sad that readers have left (and, yes, many readers have indeed left) but I fully understand why. It’s something I expected and a sacrifice I was willing to make to focus on other projects. I hope I can win some of them back one day and I hope to gain new readers when the comic is more stable :D
Thank you all again and always for the support!
@ Joe – Might be a stupid suggestion but couldnt you like put this on youtube and monetise it for a steady income? Like say put together 6 episodes into one video and to compensate for the user that clicks to the next scene just have like a 10-15 wait time between scenes, that way it would play out like a movie or comic and it would also reach the Youtube audience?
Meant to say 10-15 seconds*
WMw28UK Joe owns this site, and he just posted that he has lost many fans, there you go.
@Niko
first you decide to speak for those that stopped reading/watching The Pocalypse(of which you clearly aren’t one of),and now you’re speaking for Joe himself? personally, I don’t think there was anything wrong with WM28UK’s suggestion. As it was only a suggestion(unlike your first post on this page, which, as far as I can tell, was a complaint.) your reply was entirely unnecessary.
@Joe you could always do behind the scenes video into how each new scene is made
Nice scene Joe! Can’t wait for the next one! Which is why I check on Pocalypse each day waiting for your glorious new scene. No one’s rushing you with creating the next best scene, I’d just like to say that I also agree with what WM28UK suggested. A YouTube Channel would help you widen your audience.
On another note, good luck with your other projects Joe! As much as we want to keep you for our own pocalypse viewing pleasure, I hope you have fun and enjoy the other projects you’re working on that keep popping up.
*Fandom is promised weekly update*
*3 updates in three months. Approx – *
Aww well, poo. Ima come back in december.
Not checking this site + seeing adverts until december. At least one update should be up.
Update on pocalypse defense would be nice too, pepul paid for dat.
@Urist, please read the comments above to see the whole situation, Joe posted up there that he has lost a lot of fans, matter of fact, I am going to quote it right now
“Of course, I’m sad that readers have left (and, yes, many readers have indeed left) but I fully understand why. It’s something I expected and a sacrifice I was willing to make to focus on other projects.” <—- Part of Joes last comment, I am not speaking for anyone, I said that many people have left because of the slowdown, Joe also says that in his comment, I did not speak for Joe as you see if you actually read all the comments or read what I quoted above, again people, know the facts before you post.
@ Niko – i think what people are trying to really say is please shut the hell up,if you aint got anything nice to say then dont speak at all. There this one time i DID speak for the people!
@WM28UK
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
what ever happened to waiting patiently for Joe’s next update, we didnt have to always deal with upset comments and such.
It was likely to happen eventually, given the length of time we have been waiting for. I’m sure things will turn around though, I have faith :D
