I don’t have a scene for you today… I have over 250 scenes for you! After posting my Flash to HTML5 conversion progress last week, I got some amazing suggestions from Kizz, Pablo Atristain, and diabolo96 pointing me to some Flash player alternatives. I can’t thank you all enough! Turns out, it was AwayFL that did the trick :D
After spending two days trying every available player and stumbling over the site’s code, embed code, GitHub repos, and countless Google searches that led to StackOverflow, I got close but I couldn’t get scenes working quite right. I almost gave up and went back to the uber-slow process of converting scene one-by-one but then I shot an email to eXponenta and asked him for some help. He graciously offered his expertise and, boom, here we are – we can now go back and read The Pocalypse’s entire library :D I can’t thank him enough!
So, no scene this week as all my time went to “coding” (more like finding the right code to copy and paste and putting it in the right place :D) but feel free to look back and let me know if everything works (and if you find plot holes and continuity errors haha)!
Thank you all for your patience and I’ll have the next scene up soon!
Glad that I could help you somehow and that you are up an running the old ones. I will check them for sure.
Not-so-glad to not have a scene since I really want that backstabber burnt…
Well, even if it didn’t quite work, I am glad that I helped suggest the general path for how to fix it :P
Good to see it’s all worked out! Back to lurking for me! ^^
Thank you Joe, for going through such lengths to keep the flame alive! TIME FOR A FULL SERIES RECAAAAAP!!!
@Pablo Atristain – Thanks again! :D
@Kizz – Ruffle still might be a future solution that I’ll revisit once they have full compatibility :D The current solution doesn’t seem to work on mobile so maybe Ruffle will!
@Luio – Good luck! Let me know if you run into any issues :D
I am so happy that you could make it work !! Before sending my last comment I tried for a few hours to embed awayfl into a dummy website so i could send you the files and make it easier for you to do it but i failed miserably ( being sleep deprived probably didn’t help ) and ended giving up, so i was quit afraid you would give up too but i was wrong and here we are with all of the pocalypse back up again !!! :D
Hi,
is it just me, or is the alternative not working properly? I get the two play / nosound buttons, they light up fine under mouse, the cursor changes from I-beam to arrow on them, but clicking them does nothing. Any old scene I pick. I’m using Firefox, if it helps.
@diabolo96 – I definitely almost gave up and went back to converting haha Luckily, eXponenta helped me out, gave me code, and updated the repo :D
@_Xoft(o) – Ah, bummer, sorry about that! It must be a Firefox issue since it seems to work with Chrome and Edge (which I think is just another Chromium branch). Unfortunately, I don’t have the knowledge to make it work with Firefox :( The solution also doesn’t work with mobile so we will have to switch to something like Ruffle in the future when it’s feature-complete. Thanks for the report!
I actually tried the scenes on mobile with kiwi browser ( the best browser if you want chrome extensions working on android ) and via browser ( use the built-in android web viewer,so basically chrome ) and they worked normally.
@_Xoft(o) – just tested and they do work on firefox, perhaps it’s your extensions causing the problem
@Joe – again, a big thank you for the pocalypse !
@diabolo96 – Ah, you’re right! Just checked on my Android phone and scenes did work :D Maybe I had to clear my cache as it was trying to read old code?
@Joe – am not an expert but that is most likely the raison because the least a website ressource is updated every new visite the more the web browser will think it a permanent file, i.e., never change.
Right, not an extension, but a cache issue, clearing the cache helped. Thanks for confirming the problem was on my side.
Curiously, Ctrl+F5 was not enough, I had to use an addon, Clear Browsing Data, to clear the cache.
_Xoft(o) – So glad it worked for you! Thanks again for the report!
So it was at this point that previous scenes became viewable again! And so recent too!!!
@NeoPhantom – Yup! Only a month ago! Huge thanks to everyone who led me in the right direction with Flash player alternatives :D
